Since its establishment as a State, the lack of local energy resources has forced Israel to devote considerable efforts in the areas of energy research and development. In recent years, Israel has taken substantial steps towards advancing the use of renewable energy. "Israel should be a catalyst for change," said Isaac Berzin (voted by TIME Magazine as one of the world's 100 most influential people of 2008 for developing a revolutionary technology of producing bio fuels from algae). "Israel is a very small place in the middle of nowhere, but it has here what it takes in terms of technology, the know-how to change the world."

The upcoming Environmental Management Programme will, among other topics, deal at length with renewable energy solutions and advanced technologies. Through intensive study comprising professional lectures, study tours and interactive sessions, participants will get the opportunity to absorb Israeli knowledge and experience at first hand.
